Latest Update on our FIB Norway

Our FIB is in Sweden, still undergoing repairs. It should be in shape by this spring. Meanwhile thanks to our active and growing community of FIB enthusiasts. Thanks for sharing your photos, and joining in on our forum. Keep safe, fly safe, and have fun. We've had some stormy weather here in the North lately!

Hadde fjernet noen støttestag, for å kunne flytte eksos og radiator (for å få mindre støy). Ny propell (som var noe legre) kom borti båten og slo hull i noe kraftig vind... Flyet står i Sverige til reperasjon nå. Forventes ferdig våren-2008 Hilsen gpi2 admin

Prop Strikes our FIB

The flying boat sinks fairly rapidly once the prop struck the craft. A propellor guard may have prevented the prop from striking the FIB. Has anyone ever experienced this before...

Well, the water wasn't too frigid, even here near the Arctic. We've got some repairs ahead of us and will be up in the air soon again.

Our Flying Route from Flikka, Norway

Gpi2 Flying Route in Southern Norway

Here is a Google Maps link to our typical flying route in Southern Norway, out of our homebase in Flikka. It is a picturesque route taking in long, majestic fjords, pretty coastal islands, and freshwater inland lakes.

Spring and Summer Flying

We here at Gpi2.no would be interested to see if any other FIB pilots here in Norway would be interested joining us in their flying boat for a trip this spring or summer. We would be flying and filming over a few days in southern Norway. You would most likely be flying in to Flikka near Flekkefjord.

Let us know if you have any ideas. It will be fun to get in the air again!

Here is an interesting idea. Why not try the same idea up north, looking for polar bears.

Great Feedback from our Paraglider Pilots

I have received lots of positive, supportive email with interesting ideas from our paraglider and hangglider pilots here in Norway. On today, the first day of our pitch to the paragliding and hanggliding clubs.

Check out this clip from Olav M Bråtveit in Jaeren, Norway

These gung ho, motivated guys are exactly why we want to make this film. Check back on this webpage for updates and email us at paragliderfilm@yahoo.com.

Extreme Sports Film

I have an open invitation to all Norway based paraglider, hangglider, and paramotor pilots (and anyone else in other clubs you may know) who may be interested in participating in a film we at www.gpi2.no are proposing to make to present to the Norwegian television and film networks.

We have had some success in one film project here in Norway and I personally have had some experience pitching in Hollywood.

As you can see on our flying boat homepage here at www.gpi2.no we are a couple of local Norwegian guys, Trond Dugan, and Ingve Flikka, and myself, a Norwegian American, who were involved with an independent film studio which pitched one of our film projects to the Norwegian networks. (We met with the studio last summer) The bottom line from our meetings was that this type of flying film up the Amazon River was attractive. (but very expensive)

What I am proposing now is to create an alternative, cheaper film not only about the flying boat, but one about paraglider and other extreme sports pilots here in Norway.

To save possibly on time and get as much filming as possible, we would want to recruit as many of you who may also want to help in making the film. In other words you become part of the production team. This is meant to be a team effort.

We want to follow you around, filming from the air and ground. We want to see what makes you throw yourself off a cliff. We want to film from motorized paragliders, paragliders, flying boats, and combine these shots into a slice of life type of documentary.

A short film we made over the summer used a helicopter (my cousin flew this one here in Norway) and this worked very nicely, since the film was shown on NRK.

I think we have a reasonable chance in getting a new one pitched and shown to film execs (here in Norway and elsewhere) especially since we can make it mostly by ourselves, here in beautiful Norway, and we have some experience.

SO WHAT I AM ASKING is for ANYONE who is interested in participating, in any way, to email me at paragliderfilm@yahoo.com or send a message on this page.

This is a serious project in the early planning stages. What I need is input from you guys.

What do you think of the idea. Do you have suggestions.

I know some of you personally. You guys (and gals) are funny, serious, motivated, are the best pilots around.

This is not meant to be just another typical news story that you see on the TV in the summertime about paragliding. There are plenty of those around.

This will be a personnel film, a slice of life, about young and older pilots, the risks and adventures they take. It will be documentary length, maybe running a few episodes. Our Amazon project was considered as a miniseries. Who knows what may happen.

Well that is my pitch.

Torvald R. all you fine paraglider, paramotor, and hanglider pilots. If you are even slightly interested email me and we will get in touch.

mvh
